SECOND INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE “EDUCATION, SCIENCE, INNOVATIONS 2012

9-10 JUNE 2012


A total of 102 reports have been registered on the Conference, 13 of which were presented by students. The presented reports were from 10 countries (United Kingdom, Greece, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Hungary, France, The Netherlands, Latvia).

The conference demonstrated different types of collaboration and cooperation in research work. The distribution of reports by categories is as follows:

  • Reports of lecturers from EPU – 35
  • Reports of mixed teams (EPU and other Bulgarian universities) – 22
  • Reports of mixed international teams (EPU and Poland and Holland) - 2
  • Reports of foreign participants - 11

115 participants took part in the conference and they were grouped as follows:

  • 53 participants from EPU
  • 38 participants from other universities
  • 22 foreign participants
  • 2 representatives of the business
  • Key issues of the conference:

The conference provided opportunities for colleagues to present the results of their research, share lessons learned, and look forward to the future by experiencing a wide array of new ideas through the Conference Streams. Тhe authors submitted papers on the following area:

             Innovations in Architecture and Civil Engineering

             Innovations in Natural Sciences

             Innovations in Education

             Informatics, Computer Systems and Networks, Telecommunications

             Social Sciences and Humanities

             Economy and Innovation: regional systems of innovation, competitiveness and development; knowledge economy/integration, innovative companies and clusters; social business and innovation; institutionally and research driven innovation;

             Sustainable Development, Green Energetics, etc.

The topic “Innovations in Education” becomes a tradition for the Conference.

  • A trade mark of the Conference is the organized Round table. This year’s Round table is a continuation of the Round table from the previous year, making the discussion and analysis more detailed. The topic of the round table was “New trends and challenges in Engineering Education with representatives of science and business’”.
  • Students’ sessions. Two students’ sessions were organized. The first one discussed the now on a higher level compared to last year’s session where only High school representatives participated.
  • Provoked by the recent earthquake in Pernik, the Organizing Committee included a new session on Innovations in Building engineering, based on analysis of the consequences from the local earthquake – with famous international seismologists like Prof. Asterios Liolios and Prof. Ivanka Paskaleva.
  • Opening of two laboratories on “Green energetics” and “Radio Frequency Identification.
